NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION
QUARTERLY MEETING.
Affairs relating to lawn tennis were dealt with at the quarterly meeting of the New ZealajicMLawn Tennis Association held in Winder's Buildings last evening. Mr. H. M. Gor6, president (Wellington), occupied the chair, and others present were: —Messrs. B. Keesing (Auckland), W. P. Wilson (Canterbury}, F. F. Grady and P. K. Pasiey (Hawkes BayJ, S. W. Parker and J. Colhria (Marloorough),. EL C. Murray (Otago), W. E. Denmston (Taranaki), W. J Melody and W. D. Irons (Wauganui), C. G. Turner, A. G- Henderson, D. U. Kean, and T. C. Ward (Wellington). The Management Committee in its report recommended the acceptance of a donation by Mrs. Wilding of one of the late Anthony'F. Wilding's silver cups aa a challenge cup. The suggestion was made by the committee that such a cup should go with and form part of the Anthony Wilding Intel-provincial Perpetual Challenge Shield. It was decided to adopt the Management .^Committee s proposals, and to send a letter of thanks to Mrs. Wilding. - ■- .. In connection with the nomination of G. Ollivier as one of the New ' Zealand team to compete at the Olympic games, the committee was given to understand that the team had been made up without the inclusion of this player. ■ A donation of £10 10s was- made to the Olympic Council towards the'expenses of sending the Olympic team, "A report was made that the only accounts so far received in connection with' the Englishmen's visit %vere those of Otago and Wellington. , The committee suggested that the allocation oi the expenses of Messrs. Beamish and Lowe, totalling £105 14s 10d, whilst m New Zealand be in the proportions of two-sevenths each- for Auckland, Wellington, and Canterbury, and one-seventh for Otago. A notice to this effect. is Joeing forwarded to associations. ' The Management Committee's report was adopted. The financial statement showed a balance of receipts over payments of £735 8s 3d, of which amount £550 8s Id was cash on fixed deposit. A. motion to the effect that the Ayres ball be adopted for use at the New Zealand Championship Meeting was carried. The Auckland Association applied for a grant of £5 5s towards the primary schools tourney, and the matter was referred to the Management Committee. JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS. In or.der to give practical effect to the decision of council at its last meeting regarding junior championships being included in future New Zealand championship'meetings the following; new rule (63a) was proposed by the Management Committee:—"The association may include in the New Zealand championship' meeting a boys' junior "ingles championship .of New Zealand *' a girls' junior sTSgles championship *>t New Zealand', and in snch,event shall provide challenge trophies and medals as provided for in rules 58 and 59 hereof. The maximum •inlranne fee for each such shall be 2s t'i. ■ Competitors shall be,, boya and girls who have not' attained the age of | eighteen years at the , closing date of entry, and shall be bona fide pupils attending any primary or secondary school, college, university, technical school, or college, commercial achooi, or other re; cognised educational institution, either | as a day or evening scholar, or. a member of a tennis association affiliated to the i'New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association." j This matter will be at a. general meeting.
