ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Football Association was held last night, Mr. W. Auld presiding. The secretary of the Otago. Sohools Committee wrote asking the Association to send a representative schools team to play against that association . and other association school representatives from 'further south'. Consideration of the matter was held over for a month, as it was considered it k too early in the season for such projects to be entertained.
Mr. E. Finch, captain of the South Wellington Club, complained of the failure of referees to appear, and of the difficulties that arose through the employment at the last moment of unauthorised referees. The letter was received.
Permission was given the Eovers Club to send a. team to Christchurch at the end of the month, but it was decided that in future fuller particulars be required before permission is granted. A letter was received regarding the quality of referees sent to the Porirua matches. The letter was sent pn to the Eeferees' Association.
The secretary of the Johnsonville sth B team protested against having to play against a Sth A team, in view of the youthful calibre of the team. .The letter was referred to the Boys' Sub-Commit-tee.
The Thorndon Club protested' against Institute 4th B playing a man who was allegedly disqualified^ for play in that division. It was stated that the captain of the Institute team wa3 spoken to on the subject, and h© said they would "risk it." It was decided to ask Institute for an explanation.
A letter was received from the V.M.C.A. team complaining of the action of the referee in not allowing a. goal (which v/as kicked) in its match against Diamond, on the 15th inst. The referee, Mr. 0. Eeid, explained the action he had taken. Diamonds also protested against the action of the referee in giving a goal 'under certain circumstances which were outlined. After considerable discussion, it was decided that the match should be awarded to V.M.C.A., as it was considered the referee had made a mistake. t
It was decided that Auckland be written to offering 19th June as the date for the Brown Shield match, and that application be made for the use of the Basin Reserve on that date.
