SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY

.Much preparation for the enjoyment of the seafarers had been made by Mrs. J. W: Can- at her ■concert last evening at the bailors' Friend Society. The following assisted:—Mrs. J. W. Can', Misses Furquhar, Brown. O'Brien, and Lewis, and-Messrs. J. W. Carr, Gerald Bell, IVis-s, Chifholm. and Smythe. 3ir J. W. Carr was at the piano. .."Sober by Act of Parliament", was the subject of Mr. Moore's address. Pledges were signed. Real pleasure"was .afforded by the competitions. I'rizes came from the host and hostess, and went to the Port Nicholson, A letter of thanks for gifts to St. Dustun's Hostel for Blinded uuldiers and Sailors was read.
