It is freely reported {states the Levitt Chronicle) that a district resident, who recently disposed of a farm, which ho had only held fo*- about 18 months, cleared a neat. £8000.by the bargain.. The Government has completed negotiations for the purchase of 7000 acres of the Brnncepeth Estate (the property of Mr. H. H. Beetham) for soldier settlement. Tho land is being taken up by a syndicate, of which seven members are returned soldier employees on tho property. It will cut up into twelve or fourteen sections, and will require very little roading and fencing. The property is to be taken over by the soldiers in February next. Tenders are to be called shortly for tha erection of further workers' dwellings i% Masterton.
