In anticipation .of a rise in tram fares, there has been considerable buying of concession . tickets, so much so that in some of the shops where supplies are usually purchasable they have been unprocurable to-day. The action of the Railway Department in connection with the erection of cottages at Kaiwarra the conditions in regard to which do not Sneet with the City Council's requirements, will, it \p understood, be the subject of further proposals at the next meeting of the council. The matter was dealt with by' the City Council last evening, but some of the councillors are dissatisfied with the present position of tilings.
