"TOUCHED AND GRATIFIED"
Yesterday the Governor-General re ceived the following telegraphic mci sage from His Majesty the King:— Please thank the people of Ne» Zealand for the warm-hearted and en thusiastic reception given by them U my eldest son throughout his visit t< their beautiful islands, the. account) of which have touched, and gratified the Queen and me. But we are noi surprised, for we preserve in oui hearts imperishable memories of th« loyal, affectionate welcome accorded tc us in New Zealand nineteen y«ars agoi I know with what pride my son hal met again the men of New Zealand 1! Your Majesty for your gracious message. I can assure Your Majesty that the spontaneous welcome which His Royal Highness everywhere received throughout these islands is symbolical of the. intense loyalty which New Zealanders cherish for the Throne
and Empiro. His comrades who served in the New Zealand 1 Division hay« been proud to renew their acquaintance with the Prince of Vales,., and, furthermore, the children who. compose the rising' generation will never forget the manner in which His Roya! Highness took every opportunity to meet them, in order that they might share in the universal rejoicings.--(Signed) LIVERPOOL.
