Judgment was given in the Magistrate's Court this afternoon in a case of Rothschild v. Irving, claim for possession of a tenement in Ohiro-road. His Worship made an order for possession by Ist July, with £1 15s costs. Mr. M. Johnston appeared for plaintiff, and Mr. G. Watson for defendant.
The Wellington "story-without-words" party, Misses M. Burt, E. E. Aitcheson, and M. Shearer, and Messrs. C. G. Kirk and J. P. Dodds, gained first place with 45 out of 50 points for their clever sketch at the Masterton Musical and Elocutionary Competitions.
In the Magistrate's Court this afternoon, Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., gave reserved judgment in a case in which the New Zealand Express Co., Ltd., was sued by H. H. Wray for £8 for damages and breakages to furniture and other goods from Dannevirke to Wellington. Judgment was for the plaintiff for the full amount, with costs £2 2s 6d.
The British Government chemist and his staff analysed 181,392 samples of tobacco during last year, including 19 smoking; mixtures which contained no tobacoo at all! •
Messrs. Vine and Wilson will sell furniture at 50, Puru-crescent, Lyall Bay, on Thursday.
Messrs. E. Johnston and Co. will sell furniture to-morrow, at 10.30" a.m., at 82, Kilbirnie-crescent, at 1 p.m., in their rooms, and on Thursday, at 10 a.m., at No, 38, Hawkestone-atreet.
