The question of the renewal of the Anglo-Japanese Alliance is attracting increasing attention in the Japa-nese newspapers, particularly the views of Australia. According to the Osaka newspaper Asahi, there is a considerable body of opinion in Japan which believes that the collapse of Russia and the existence of the League of Nations l-emoves the necessity for a renewal of the Alliance. The Asahi recognises that the 'view® of the Dominions must be respected by Britain. It expresses regret that the war experience iias not allayed Australia's suspicions, and has not' resulted in a modification of the White Australia policy.
