LATE COMMERCIAL
TALLOW MARKET QUIET. At the local sales yesterday tallow showed a decline of 7s to 8s per cwt in casks and 10s in tins on previous sale rates. Business was only possible on concessions being made by .sellers. Messrs. Booth and Co., Christchurch, advise that their London house cables that at the sales, hold on the loth May,. 1893 casks were offered, 1646 casks being sold. Better grades unchanged, inferior grades slightly higher than last. They quote :—Edible mutton, 90s; edible beef, 00s; good mutton, 87s; good beet, 85s fld; good colour, 85s Od; no colour, 81s Bd; gut, 77s 6d. . Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house undor date loth May, 1020:—Wu quote present spot values for tho following descriptions of tallow: Five mutton, Hi 8s; good bed', £i 8s; mixed, £4 'is.^ Good demand except for fine mutton tallow and line beef tallow.
