THE EMBARGO ON POTATOES

A promise that an endeavour will be made- to have certain restrictions lifted, so as to permit-of the export of potatoes to Australia, was made to-day to a deputation by Mr. M'Donald, representing the Board of Trade. Mr.. M'Donald stated that he would recommend the Minister for Customs ■to permit of the embargo on the~export of potatoes beir;g lifted for a period of two months. Mr. M'Donald also made a. promise that regarding- the embargo on the importation of potatoes into the Commonwealth lie would maiie inquiries and representations ■with a view to the restrictions being lifted if i.t \vere; possible.
