The Sth (Wellington) Regiment Band, under Lieut. M'Comish, will give a. performance at Wellington Hospital on Sunday afternoon, when a collection will be taken up in aid of the Hospital funds.
The magic word "coal" appeared this morning in the Petone Borough Office window, and immediately, as if drawn by a magnet, a crowd of householders besieged the premises, and in the course of an hour ,the stock, which comprised only one truck (which was doled out in cwt. lots), was exhausted, and a large number of persons, many of whom have had practically no coal this year, were sent empty away.
Messrs. E. Johnston nnd Co. will sell contractor's plant at 10.30 a.m. on Monday, at 48. Roxburgh-st. ; at 1.30 p.m. they will sell furniture at 33, Roy-etreet; and on Tuesday, at 1 p.m., furniture at No. 23, Bowen-etreet.
