Mr. E. Page, S.M., dealt with police and summons cases at the Magistrate's Court to-day. ' '. ' .John Flanagan, was convicted on ?■ charge of a' fourth offence of drunkenness within the statutory period of .six months, and was given the option of paying'a. fine of £1 or going to gaol for three days. Two youths, D. Hickey and L. Lamberg, ;who had thrown stones at a house at Ly.'all Bay and had done some damage to the roof, were each convicted and. ordered to pay fines and costs amounting to £2 6s.
A young man named W. J. Boyce was convicted upon a charge -of having com-mitted-a.-breach of the .-peace, but. as there were extenuating.circumßtances he was merely^ called upon'to': pay Court

. Arthur Wheatley, land agent, was convicted, and ordered to paY a fine of £3 arid costs, for an offence of threatening behaviour. The trouble arose out of a dispute in, the street between J. B. Harcourt, anqther. land agent, and .Wheatley over statements of account. Hareourt held that an unprovoked assault had beeji committed,-' but the defendant said -. that x Harcourt had threatened him vrith'Ja. walking-stick, and he had pushed him'aside in self-defence. -A Chinaman named Young Pat was proceeded against by the S.P.C.A. on a charge of having ill-treated a horse by-driving-it while- it.'waErsuffering irbm a ,deep-seaEed corn in one .foot,- but, he denied that he had; noticed any lameness prior to the day on he had been stopped by Inspector Henry. The borso had been apparently sound when taken out that day, but developed lameness during the day's round. A fine of £2, and '£IBs costs, was imposed.
