MINISTER OF LABOUR

SIR WILLIAM HER.RIES APPOINTED.

The Prime Minister yesterday announced that Sir William Henries would take the portfolio of Labour, which he himself has held sines the Reform Government came into office. The new' Minister has a knowledge of the work of the Labour Department, as he has acted as Minister of Laboir on various occasions during Mr. Maswy's absence from New Zealand.

It is possible that the Prime Minister may also transfer to one of his colleagues the duties of .President of the Board of Trade, but no decision is yet announced in regard to this matter.
