STUDENTS' BALL

CONCLUSION OF CAPPING FESTIVITIES. A fitting finale to the cheery time which usually accompanies the capping celebrations took place last night at the. Town Hall in the form of a ball, at which there were nmny "Victoria College students and their friends. Some of the decorations which made the hall so attractive at the. Prince of Wales welcome ball, and the soft, mauve-shaded canopy and primrose-shaded lamps were again admired) being reminiscent of Parma- violets and primoses, one of the most beautiful possible N combinations o± colour. Darling, Butler, Lyra Taylor, Renner, Duncan (2), Ross, Withing, Morpeth, "Keyworth, 55ita Chapman. .Among the notable gowns were the: following:—A jade green charmeuse draped grown, with a v-shaped corsage trimming in old rose' softened with white georgette ; a rose net dress with a "swathed belt o£ magenta, many flounces being edged with the same shade : a pale lemon net, much flowered and finished with panel sash of tangerine; pearl grey charmeuse and- georgette with touches of silver; deep sky-blue pleated georgette with wide silver tissue, panels and bow ; vivid rose georgette with gold roses; flame colour miroir velvet with outlines of irridescent, chains and passementerie; pale pink satin with hip bows of tulle of a deeper shade fastened with roses; apricot .net over satin with bodice draping and short sleeves of gold net; gold and green and gold tissue with flounces edged with net of a deeper shade of green. Professors Marsden, Sommerville, Rankine-Brown, Tennant, and. Mr. Do la Mare (Hamilton), Dr. Albn Thompson, Mr. F. Bakewell, Mr. F. P.
