KING'S THEATRE.

The management of The King's Theatre has been fortunate in securing "Th« Hoodlum," featuring Mary iPickford, for first production ,in Wellington. Mary Pickford has had many successes, but it will be difficult for her to surpass the work she has done'in this picture. The popular actress starts out as a pampered and wilful heiress. Her wilfulmess leads her to turn her life topsyturvy and become a slum dweller, where she'learns many things, as, for instance,. that, wealth has been robbing her of many joys, that dirty-faced girls may often be happier than those who use expensive soaps every few minutes of the day; that a hurdy-gurdy may turn out more fascinating music than ,a highly-paid jazz band, and that great joy. comes from helping others. The orchestra's programme this week includes selections from "Going . Up" and much other bright music played in its usual excellent" style. Mr. W. Goudle last night sans: three baritone songs, "The Queen of Connemara," "The Little Irish Girl," and "Hadfield Bells."
