CITY FINANCES

Among the financial matters to be dealt with, by the' City Council during the- coming year are two loans falling due. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke, M.P.) informed a Post reporter to-day that in OctoberShext the Horse Tramway Loan, for which £20,000 was 'available, would be paid off entirely. In December would fall due the Street-Widening Loan of £180,000, towards which £30,000 was available by way of sinking fund, which, as the loan was short-dated, had only accumulated proportionately. The' Mayor said he intended to asjc the next meeting of the council for authority to make the necessary arrangements to finance the remaining £90,000. The transaction would be quite separate from the loan proposals for further improvements and a progressive policy of development of the city.
