MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. E. Page, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's' Court this morning. Three first-offending inebriates wore dealt -with in the usual way. Arthur Angove pleaded guilty to charges of having stolon Eha.ying tackle, a pair, o! trousers, and an alarm clock, valued at £5, the property of Victor Wilfred Flood, and a.shirt valued at 7s 6d, the.property of James Walker. Both thefts were committed in boarding-houses. The man was sent to gaol for a month. Gerald John Dally was remanded to appear on Thursday on a ehargo of having stolen a portmanteau and contents, valued, at about £5, the property of one Lenfcfor. Bail was fixed- at £25, with' sureties of like amount. Another young man has also been charged with the same offence ' : ;
A young man named Edward Ireson, who had previously pleaded guilty to charges of having stolen various articles and money, of a.total valuo of £21 0s Bd, from his employers, Messrs. C. Smith, Ltd., was admitted to probation lor throe years on the first charge, and was fined £10, the alternative being fixed at a month in gaol, on the second count. Ireson was also ordered to refund £5, the value of goods not recovered.
