SIX-'A-SIDE TOURNAMENT.

The Association football season was opened in Wellington on Saturday, with the six-a-side competition, The play was at Coutts Park, Kilbirnie. Soventy-six teams were entered, and out of 69 games set down 65 were played before it be; came too dark to go on. The remaining Bix games were the semi-final and final of the First Division, the final of the -Second Division, and the final of the Fourth Division, and these will be played on a date to be feed by the; Management Committee. There was a very large attendance, and the spectators found the games highly interesting. Many of them were .close and exciting, and extra, time had to be played on several occasions before the winner of some of the competitions could be found. Tho'officiaJs in control were Mr. F. Boss, controller of teams and grounds ; scorers, Messrs. H. L. Qodber and A-. Williams ; appeal board, Messrs. F. Ross, H. L. Godber, and A. "Williams. The games were well controlled by the Referees' Association, who had a large' muster of members in attendance. Results : First Division. First round : Diamond (B), 2 goals, 4 [ comers ; Thistle, nil.
