A FATAL FALL
Alfred French, a Hirbonr Board employee, died at the Hospital early yesterday morning following an operation.to relieve compression of the brain, resulting from a fractured skull. Deceased, while riding on a tram on Saturday evening, fell to the'road at Courtenay-place. On being picked up he was arrested on a charge of drunkenness, but while at the Taranaki-etreet Police Station his condition became 6erioue, and it was found necessary shortly before midnight to send him to the Hc»pital. French, who was 65 years of age, lived at 64, Austin-street. An inquest will be held to-morrow.
