Line steamer Port Victor arrived at Wellington yesterday from Napier, and berthed at the • Glasgow Wharf to complete discharge bf her Home cargo. Loading ■will. be commenced here, and the vessel will sail on the 2Srd inst. for Port Chalmers and lyttelton. She returns to Wellington to fill ■up, and is to sail for London, via Panama, on .the 6th May. ■ PERSONAL.' Mr. F. C. Ogg has signed on as third engineer of the Putiki. Captain W. D. Cameron has resumed command of the Maori, with Mr. F. Goosky as chief officer. Mr. R. C. Choyte as second, and Mr. R. Scollay as third. . ' Prior to the departure of the Palooiia for Melbourne yesterday the following changes took place in the vessel's personnel: Mr. C. Flanagan, third officer, signed ,of! the articles. Mr. J. Mr. M. R. Dodds. FRENCH SAILER MISSING. . ' Some uneasiness is being felt in. shipping circles at .the loii.'i passage being made by the French ship Laenritx (says . the Sydney Shipping List). This vessel left Rochefort on the 4th November for Port Philip Heads for orders, but although she was 169 days out no word has been received of her since she left The Lacnnec is a well-known Australian trader, and files tho French flag. She is a steel ship of 2208 tons gross and 2011 net, and ■was-built at St. Nazaire In 1902 by Chartlers pi Ateliers de St. Kazaiue. j
MANUKA LEAVES SYDNEY The Union Company's intercolonial steamer Manuka left Sydney yesterday afternoon for Wellington direct with passengers and cargo, and is due here on Monday. THE KENT. According to an announcement made by the New Zealand and African Company the F. and S. liner Kent left Newcastle at 5 D.m. on Tuesday for Lyttelton, Napier, and Wellington, to load for Liverpool. The Kent -will sail via Panama about the Ist May, " AJANA'S NAME CHANGED. S The Ajana, which was recently purchased from the Federal and Shire Line by the New Zealand Shipping Company, has been renamed the Otarama. Thes liner is to load at Montreal In May for New Zealand and Australian ports. AUCKLAND HARBOUR. In a review of the past year's activities of the Auckland Harbour Board, the chairman made the following statement at the annual meeting of the board:—"With the cessation of hostilities trade has once more begun to resume its natural channels. The shipping outlook has considerably improved, and would be better were it not for the delays which are occurring in the discbarge of vessels in Great Britain. In the Waitemata harbour the shipping inwards for 1019 showed an increase over the 1918 returns of 307,863 net registered tons, whilst the goods passing over the wharves showed the following increases: Import, 03,763 tons; export, 22,329 tons; transhipment, 5305 tons. The revenue for 1919 amounted to £211,113. an increase of £22,589 over 1918, after taking into account proceeds of investments of reserve funds. The expenditure was £155,320, an increase of £6000 over the previous year. The net surplus, £25,650. has been credited to renewals and contingencies reserve. 1' The Mokoia is due at Wellington on Sunday from Auckland and Napier," and will sail the next day for Lyttelton and Dunedin. The Talune, replacing the Flora, is to leave Auckland on :the 3rd May for Earotonga and Papeete. The S. S. and A. liner Otlra Is to leave Lyttelton this afternoon for Napier to complete her Homeward loading. She will later return to Wellington for bunker supplies, and will sail for London, via Panama. ,• ■ The Corinna is to leave Wellington tomorrow for Lyttelton, uot Dunedin, as was previously announced. ' The Government steamer Hinemoa, which has been on a trip of inspection to the southern lighthouses, is due at Wellington this evening or early to-morrow morning. Her subsequent movements are at present uncertain.
