I . OHRISTCHURCH/This Day. ■ There was a large concourse of spectators at Biccarton to witness. the semifinal gallops. The tracks and weather conditions \yer« perfect, and a lot.of very interesting work was accomplished. Sasanoff was one of the first out, and he got over half a mile pleasingly in 51 2-ssec. He was picked up over the last three furlongs by Golden Bubble, who finished with him. ■ '; . . .. Flight Commander left Wset furlong* behind in Imin 33sec, going evenly all through. Kilealm and Sisyphus were associated in gallop over six furlongs, which was composed in Imin 19sec, the pair finishing on terms. Macdnff aiid Moorfowl were not on thb time-making mission in getting over six furlongs. ' Sleepy Head did not finish strongly at the end of six furlongs run in Imin 24sec. ■ Mustard Pot, with Mandrake as companion, got over five furlongs in Imin 3 2-ssec, the former showing to most advantage at the business end. Royal Star rattled off half-a-mile in 54 l-ssec, a .distance that Naughty Boy covered in 51sec. : ':. Michaela and Amythas jumped off from the seven furlong post and- raced home in Imin 28 2-ssec: At the finish Amythas appeared to be holding his companion, and it was a fine effort on the part of both horses. ' Kilgour, Askari, and Old Gold, who arrived yesterday were to three-quarter work over six furlongs. Starlike ran twice round at a useful pace, and Seddul Bahr went seven furlongs attractively in Imin 29seo. Mystified showed to , more advantage than Sundance at the conclusion of six furlongs, run in Imin 18 2-ssec; and Algidus gpt over five furlongs in Imin 5 2-ssec. ' '■.'.-..'■ Glentanner's task was seven furlongs, done in Imin 33sec. ' With the! track faster after breakfast, Sunart reeled off seven furlongs in Imin 30 2-ssec,. finishing very well. \ Killala got' over four furlong in 50 2-5 sec,, and Recorder did a similar task in 52sec. Fabrina.de was altogether too good for Hands Off at the close of six furlongs run i n Imin 17sec, but-the latter was galloping very comfortably at the finish bondage reeled off six furlongs in lrain 24sec, and Clean Sweep was better than Hennette at the end of six furlongs run* in Imin 16 2-ssec. Karo, who appears to be sound again was given two rounds at steady pace Brackenfield and Listening Post were associated over six furlongs, the former showing to most advantage, in Imin 18 2-ssec. Foo Chow and Plastic were on terms at the end of half a mile, run in 50 2-ssec Arrowsmith, under a good' hold, cov--ered six furlongs' in Imin 17sec, and looked as if he could have improved on it. ■ / ■ '■. . .• ■' ' Fiery Cross had the assistance of Strayshot for part.of his gallop over seven furlongs, done in Imin 28sec. The Great Easter candidate ran the first quarter in 24 2-ssec, the half-mile in 48 2-ssec, and the five furlongs in Imin 1 l-ssec. It was the best gallop of the morning, and gained. Fiery, Crccs many friends for his ..race on Saturday. Border Knig-Jit and Steepholm were on. terms at the finish of six furlongs, run in Imin 17sec, both going strongly as the post was reached. • Kilboyne and Prince Delaware cleared three flights of-hurdles in'good style. Moorfowl and Mac Duff were restricted to three-quarter pace work, -while a similar, task was apportioned WinterWind and Onslaught. Warlove cleared right away from Nightraider over the concluding stages of a nine iurlotigs run, done in 2min 2sec. Adopted, Pussyfoot, Sunbath, Samovar, and Fabrioult were sprinted-down from the five furlongs post. L ; Reed will ride Sunart m the (jreat Easter Handicap. This morning's arrivals from the North Island comprised Battle Song, who looks really well, Fortune Teller, Chimera, and Little River.
