A request that the increased war bonus of 2s a day granted to apprentices should be increased to 4s, the amount received by other workers, was made by several representatives of unipns at '• a sitting of the Arbitration Court in Auckland. One reason advanced in eupport of the request was that apprentices'eat about twice as jnuch as the average fully-grown man. Mr Justice Stringer pointed out that the bonua of 4s a week was granted on the hypothetical ease of a man, his wife, and a family of two.. He stated d«anitaly that the Court could nob agree to the request madp.
