■ [The flight from Cairo to Capetown started at-the end of January, in great secrecy owing to the international rivalry for the honour of making the pioneer journey. The Silver .Queen (a VickersVimy) was wrecked at Wadi Haifa* but was repaired arid proceeded. She was smashed again at Bulawayo, being then the only Surviving competitor.
