Speaking at the last meeting of the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce the President (Mr. J. N. M'Lean) commented on the slowness of the soldiers' settlement work at Reporoa. He said that no surveying had been completed, arid other necessary preparations were not being pushed on as they ought to be. He knew .of a yoiing fellow with over £1000 who was waiting and disgusted with the dela-y. He knew the Government had plenty of work befoie it in regard to soldiers' settlements, but he thought more progress might be made.- He moved: •"That information be sought from the Minister for Lands on the : following points in regard to the settlement of soldiers on the Reporoa,Estate: (1) approximate date of ballot for sections; (2) will Ch« whol« estate bo thrown opitLt" The motion was carried uninimouely.
