BURGLARS DISAPPOINTED
(IX TlllfßAFl.—-FRZBS ASSOCIATION.) HAWERA, This Day.' Some time between Saturday night and early this morning the safe at Purser and Sons' furniture shop was blown 'open. Some high-explosive inserted through the keyhole was ignited by means of a fuse. A feather-stuffed cushion placed over the keyhole muffled tho sound of the explosion. The inner section of the.door was wrenched off and tho bolts and door were blown open. The burglars did their work in vain, for it so happened that there was no money in the safe. The police have tho matter in hand.
