PERSONAL. Mr. B. Jones is now 6econd engineer on the Paloona, vice Mr. F. Mowatt. Captain F. B. Sewell, of the Pateena, is on holiday, and is being relieved by Captain W. D. Cameron, of the Maori. Mr. ,P. Chappell. formerly purser of the Mapourika, has signed on the Monowai as purto the Tofua'. Mr." Norman, of the' Tofua, has conio ashore. . Mr. C. Graham has joined the' Alexander as second engineer. NORTHUMBERLAND'S ITINERARY. The F. nnd 3. liner Northumberland, en route from Sydney, arrived in the roadstead at Wanganui yesterday. She will reach Wellington on Friday morning, and will sail on the following Thursday for Liverpool, via Panama and Boston. NIAGARA'S SAILING. On Monday next the R.M.S. Niagara is to sail from Auckland for Vancouver, via ports. The vessel is due at the northern port from Sydney to-morrow. OTAKI WITH CARGO. | The Federal and Shire agents in Wellington i have been advised that the Otaki left Liverpool on the 26tlr February with cargo for Auckland, Wellington,'Xyttelton, and Dunediu. The vessel should reach Auckland about the 7th April, and Wellington about the 12th April. ULTMAROA TO RETURN. The Huddart-Parker steamer Ulimaroa, which has been laid up at Sydney since last August, was to have left Sydney to-day for Auckland, where she is due on Monday. She will sail on the return trip on Wednesday next. MILGANTIC FOR WELLINGTON. Cable advice received by Dalgety and Co. states that the Wfiite Star Atlantic liner Megantic is to si\il from Sydney at 4 p.m. on Thursday next for Wellington, where she is due on the lDth Marcli. After embarking passengers and taking in bunker supplies here the liner will sail on the 18th or 19th March for New York, via Panama and West Indies. WESTRALIA FROM MELBOURNE. On Tuesday, at 5.15 p.m., the HuddartParker steamer Westralia sailed from Melbourne for Wellington direct. She is due here on Sunday next with 105 passengers and 2200 tons of cargo for this port. The vessel will sail from Wellington on Tuesday next for Melbourne, via southern ports. ATHENIC DUE TO-MORROW. The Athenic is due at Wellington at 6 p.m. to-morrow from London, via Panama. The vessel is 'timed to sail from Wellington on the 27th March, for Southampton and London, via Panama. Units of the coastal fleet in port yesterday ivcre flying flags at half-mast out of respect to Captain Thompson, of the Invercargiil, who lost his life through drowning at Wanganui. The Lyttelton Harbour Board's dredge Canterbury, which has beiSn clearing the cut in the Boulder Bank at Nelson, is to call at Wellington this evening for 60 tons of bunker coal. The dredge will, when bunkered, sail for Lyttelton. The Paloona, en route from Melbourne, via South, is due here on Saturday morning. The vessel is expected to sail from Wellington -..ext Tuesday for Newcastle and Melbourne. . It was reported lr.st week that the coastal steamer Manama had. been purchased by a Dunedin firm, but the Dneudin Star has been informed that this-'is not correct. The vessel is at present under offer, but has not yet changed hands. From Napier to complete loading for Homo the Porb Caroline is due at Wellington on Sunday next. Next' Wednesday the vessel is to sail for Loiidon, via Panama. Yesterday afternoon the Hinemoa arrived back at Wellington from Cook Strait, and'i after loading stores to-day will sail to-morrov/ morning" for tho Straits. Advice lias been received that the Godley Head fog signal has resumed working.
