•;' WANGANUI, This Day. ...Ai man named Oscar Strangebye • escaped from the. gaol by scaling a wall this morning. A vigorous search was prosecuted,.-.but. it ; Was unsuccessful. Strangebye was under remand on a charge of breaking, entering, and theft at Wariganui, and was to • have , appeared ; before the Magistrate to-morrow. He was arrested at Auckland for similar offences, where he was recently sentenced to two years' imprisonment and declared an habitual criminal.
