TRAMWAY REVENUE
COMPARATIVE RETURNS.
Returns of tramway revenue and expenditure for the four weeks ended sth January, 1920, show that the revenue increased by £6821 over the figures for the corresponding period of the previous _year. Working expenses increased by £3119, but there was a decrease of £1800 in special expenditure chargeable to revenue. Last year there was a debit balance of £1870, but this year the finances are in credit to the amount of £3574, a gain of £5444. The revenue'per car mile was 6.17 d more and the working expenses ware 2.61 d greater. The percentage of working expenses to revenue fell from 77 to 68. Passengers carried were 396,775 more, and 9318 more ca-r miles were run. A better index to the state of theundertaking, however, is gained from the returns foi the forty weeks from Ist April to sth January.
