DEATH FROM HEART FAILURE

CHRISTCHURCH, 21st Feb.

At the inquest on Charles Bookes, senior despatch clerk of the Christchurch Telegraph Office, the widow deposed that deceased rose between 6 and 7 o'clock yesterday morning, apparently in his usual state of health. He helped his nephew to unload some wood, and later complained of a pain in the cnest, but said he thought it was indigestion. Later witness was called by her son, and found deceased on the floor of a. bedroom. • The . doctor was called and .h« pronounced life extinct. A verdict was returned that death was caused by heart failure, due to degeneration of the heart muscle.
