MORAL LAXITY

IRISH DENUNCIATION.

(usurp muss association.—copxrtcht.)

(AUSTRALIA!! - SEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.)

(Received February 18, noon.)

LONDON., 16th February. The Evening News correspondent at Belfast says that Irish Prelates in their Lenten Pastorals, deal vividly and trenchantly with growing extravagance, social display, laxity of morals, and the immodesty of women's dress. Cardinal Logue describes \he tendencies as an index of the degeneracy of the times in Ireland, which hitherto was uncongenial soil, and known all over the world for the dignity, reserve, and purity of its women.. Bishop M'Kenna, however, declares that the worst forms of laxity have not reached Ireland^ but the position demands instant defensive action, similar to anti-plague measures.
