SEAMEN'S UNION
THE NEW AGREEMENT.
A stop-work meeting of the Wellington branch of the Federated Seamen's Union was held this morning, when particulars of the proposed new agreement were placed before members. No official statement of the result has been made, but ib is understood that the proposals were very favourably received. The new 'agreement is believed to provide for a considerable improvement in working conditions as well as an increase in wages. The proposals were considered by Auckland'yesterday, and it is reported that they were adopted. No advice is yet to hand of the action t&ken by tho Dunedin and Lyttelton branches.
