PAEKAKARIKI'S WATER SUPPLY
A deputation representing the latepayers of Paekakariki, waited upon the Hutt County Council this morning to ask that assistance should be given them in. the matter of obtaining', a proper water sup- ■ ply.-for Paokakariki.. It. was explained that" the water supply was short at the present time, as indeed it always was at thi3 time of the year. " At. present tanks were the only medium of supply, and it was thought that the council might help the ratepayers by obtaining a report from a qualified engineer. The speakers held that Paekakariki could not bo expected to progress unless an adequate water supply were obtained. Councillor Howell considered that the matter was one for tho riding, and he was prepared to pay up to £20 towards the expense of obtaining a report. If a scheme was decided on, tho ratepayers' could agree upon a special rate in order to pay for tho work. The council decided to request Mr. G. Laing-Meason, civil engineer, to report on tho matter..
