COLDER WEATHER
The change from the sultry heat of last weel: to the colder conditions to-day .is not unwelcome. The disturbance located yesterday off Cape Egmont passed case last evening, and strong southerly winds have prevailed. Rain has been experienced generally, and has been responsible for freshes in the rivers in various parts of the country. The local rainfall for tho past twonty-four hours was 111 points up to 9 o'clock this morning. The total rainfall since, Sunday evening' to this morning is 226 points. The indications are for moderately stroncr southerly winds and cold, changeable weather, with passing showers and cold nights everywhere. The barometer is rising slowly. ' '
