THE HAWKE CUP. fit TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) GISBORNE, This Day. The Poverty Bay Cricket Association decided l.iGt night to accept the challenge to play Wairao-apa for the' Hawks Cup on 23rd and 24th February, at Gisborne. Manawatu had also bsen endeavouring tc arrange a match with Poverty Bay this month, but the local association decided that as Wairarapa had challenged first, it should be given priority. A letter wa[ read from the New Zealand Council stating that, from .the. correspondence received, Manawatu appeared to have priority, especially' as no official notification had been received by the council of the arrangement for a match with Wairarapa. It was decided to reply to tho council stating that under regulation 4 notification of the date of matches was unnecessary until the associations concerned agreed, also that Wairarapa had challenged three days before Manawatu.
