Masked men raided the Oamberwell New-road Post Office at closing time. Two held revolvers at the heads of the postmistress and her assistants, while a third seized £100 in money and notes. The postmistress pluckily rushed to catch the man, and screamed until she was struck in the face with an iron bar. The bandits escaped with the money
The Irish Government has dismissed Sir Joseph Byrne, inspector of the Constabulary.
The workers in Dublin refuse to carry petrol for the Government, and as a result trade is greatly hampered. The congestion at the docks is unprecedented. A military guard is recessary whenever petrol is being mol The Irish Unionist nee, representing the southern unionists, has unanimously condemned the Government's Home Rule proposals.
