DARWIN, 9th January. At the Darwin Commission, Robert Toupein, Mayor of Darwin, answering questions regarding the foreign element in the town, said it was Gilruth's policy to introduce Mediterranean races ink) the Territory. During the 1918 riot Gilruth's effigy was burned.
Covacher, managing director for the Northern Agency, Ltd., replying to a question as to the reaEon of his effort to get Gilruth. a position where his scientific abilities could.be utilised, said that he would alwajrs use his influence, to secure the services of anyone whoso abilities would prove useful to the country. He denied that his reason for approaching Gilruth was that he thought Gilruth would be pliable in hie hands. He added that the connection between Gilruth and Yestey's was v§ry slight.
