EXCLUDED

SLAUGHTERMAN REFUSED PER-

MISSION TO LAND,

Another case taken under the Undesirable Immigrants Exclusion Act passed last session is reported. A* short time ago Mr. F. Niall, secretary of the Freez. ing Trades Federation, enquired whether a slaughterman, ilichael Blaney, now in Australia, would ba permitted to come to New Zealand for the purpose of engaging in his occupation in the New Zealand sheds. He has since been informed that, acting under the legislation of last session, the Attorney-Gen-eral would withhold permission to land in New Zealand. No reasons are given. Mr. Niall states that Blaney was deported from New Zealand in 1918. He was a man who spoke freely and was evidently regarded in the light of an. agitator.
