IMPORT AND EXPORT FIGURES.

Board of Trade returns show the imports in December to have- amounted in value to £169,000,000, and the exports to £90,000,000, increases of £53,000,000 and £52,000,000 respectively compared with December of 1918. The imports in. 1919 amounted to £1,632,000,000, and the exports to £798,000,000, representing increases of £315,000,000 and £297,000,000 compared with 1918. The principal increases for the year in imports were:— Food, £142,000,000; .raw materials, £188,000,000, of which £40,000,000 represented cotton and £65,000,000 wool. The increases in 'exports were:—Coal, £40,000,000; manufactures, £225,000,000, including £60,000,000 worth of cottongoods "and textiles, and £48,000,000 worth of woollens.
[Tho imports of Great Britain in 1914 amounted in value to £696,635,000 and the exports to £626,195,523. In 1918 the imports wero £1,319,338,000 and the exports £529,429,000.]
