HOSPITAL FRONTAGE IMPROVEMENT
Having gone fully ,into the matter of improving the vacant sections fronting the General Hospital, Siddiford-street, the Hospital Board's engineer (Mr. C. M'Kirdy)" has submitted four different schemes, any one of which, he states, should -be satisfactory. One scheme is the fencing of the sections and planting hedges and sowing grass; another is the levelling of the sections and asphalting; while the third provides for the demolition of the Carrara Ceiling Oo.'i buildings, and general improvements'to the grounds, including the erection of a brick rough-cast concrete wall. The fourth scheme is to making a large sweeping entrance, and this represents the most costly undertaking, the^. estimate being £1582. The engineer suggeststhat in considering any scheme it might be advisable to consult the Town Planning Association and the City Council. They might lend assistance in the direction of supplying trees, or, if asphalted, in supplying and rolling the same. • ■,
