'WASHINGTON, 18th December. The Secretary of State (Mr.. R. Lansing) in a letter to Senator Owen with reference to America's qualified recognition of a British protectorate in Egypt, states that the United States assumed that Britain intended to carry out the assurance given by King George to the late Sultan on 21st December, 1914, of his unfailing support in safeguarding the integrity of.Egypt, and-in securing her future well-being and prosperity.
