THE KARORI MISHAP
.OFFICERS NOT TO BLAME.

DUNEDIN, This Day. Mr. Widdowson, S.M., in giving decision in the magisterial .inquiry, regarding the mishap to the steamer Karori, said that the opinion of the Court was that the casualty was caused by the ship taking a sheer on a strong flood tide which threw her put of position, and through not answering the helm in sufficient time to enable her to clear the danger. In tha circumstances the Court exonerated the master, officers, and crew of the ship from all blame. The accident was in no way attributable to a defect in the ship's gear, and the master and officers acted with all prudence after the accident. Tho certificates of the master and officers would be returned. : Captain Hopkins was allowed costs.
