ANOTHER MOTOR ACCIDENT
LITTLE GIRL KILLED,
Shortly before 2 p.m. to-day a fatal motor accident occurred in Cuba-street, almost opposite C. Smiths Drapery Store. As far as can be gathered an Army Service Corps motor-lorry was proceeding down Cuba-street, when a little girl, about ten years of age, who was apparently accompanied by a younger brother, ran off the footpath immediately in front of the approaching lorry and was knoclced down and killed.
Later inquiries showed that the girl, aged about 13 years., was with her mother, Mrs. H. W. Lawton, of Vogeltown, and her younger brother. She evidently did not notice the approach of the lorry, a five-ton Denis, used by the Army Service Corps in France and driven by Joshua •Turnbull, and stepped off the footpath, to cioss the road. She had almost passed in front of the iOrr,Vj which was travelling at about 1 to 5 miles perhour, when she stepped back, being knocked down and killed iay a wheel passing over her body. The lorry was pulled up before the back wheels reached the girl's body. The child's father is Mr. H. W. Lawton, of the Agricultural Department's staff..
