A very pleasant function took placa at the breaking- up ceremony of the Te Ma-rua School (Upper Hutt) on Tuesday, when the committee and parents of the children assembled to bid farewell to the head teacher, Mrs. A. L. Stanley, who is retiring* from the profession and intends to make her future home in Auckland. The opportunity was taken to present her with a beautiful silver cake dish as a slight token of esteem. Small mementoes of their stay in the district were also given to her sister, Miss May ■Banks, and to Miss Verna Stanley. I The Suburbs Rifle Club will continue I its' shooting at Trentham on Saturday-at ranges 300 yards and 500 yards, for a Jamb presented by Messrs. Symondo Bros. . .
