MR. MASSEY'S SATISFACTION

CONFIDENCE IN THE GOVERN- . MENT.

When interviewed by a Post reporter to-day tho Prime Minister made the following statement: "The result.of the elections is natur-, ally very gratifying to me, because the Government was on its trial, and the verdict' of. the' Selectors means that "the great majority of the. people of this country approve of the policy and administration of the Government, and that it is worthy' of being entrusted

with the management of the public affairs of the Dominion during the next three years.

"I need hardly say- that there are very important matters which will have to be dealt with in the period o£ reconstruction upon which we have entered, and on that account I trust that we shall be able to keep party feeling and party interests in the background. "It is very satisfactory to realise that the electors have given New Zealand a Parliament, the great majority of whose members will support a stable and progressive Government, and stand solidly for loyalty to the Empire, with law and order within the Dominion. As Prime Minister, I believe that I understand the requirements of the country, especially under existing circumstances, and I can assure my fel-low-citizens that nothing will- be left undone by my colleagues and myself to place the prosperity of New Zealand upon a permanent basis."
