BERHAMPORE

Occasion, was taken by jlr. G. W. Key at the closing ceremony in connection with the Berhampore School, Britomartstreet, to present the certificates won by all tile Standard VI scholars. In his remarks he stated that it was the first occasion that the school had closed in a time of peace. After referring to the greatest satisfaction of the committee in regard to all the school activities, he wished the children and the teachers the compliments of the season. Mr. H. Miller, who is leaving for Ma'sterton, also' addressed the children. Hearty cheers were given for the committee, and for Mr. Miller.

When the school was dismissed, the whole satff, with Mr. Key, adjourned to the headmaster's room for morning tea. Advantage was taken of- the gathering to bid farewell to three teachers—^Xliss M'Landress, retiring from the profession after completing her years for superannuation; Miss O'Meara, who is'soon to be married; and Mr. H. Miller, who has been appointed to the headmastersnip of the new West Xlasterton School., The headmaster eulogised the work of these teachers, and presented e&ch with a suitable memento of ,the good wishes for their future happiness, health, and success. Each suitably replied. ,Mr. Key spoke at length of the gtfodfellowship existing between ihe committee and .the staff.
