CYCLE RACING IN AUSTRALIA.
; Cycle racing should undergo a considerable .revival in the Eastern Stat.es of Australia during the Summer and Autumn months, as a contingent of firstclass riders has left America for Australia. The team comprises some of the fastest wheelmen in the world. United States: Willie Spencer, Hans and Ernest Ohrt, and Charles Osteritter, amateur champion of America. Australians: R. Spears, A. Grenda, and F. Corry Those who know the sport will agree that the team is a remarkably good one. Th« absence, of F. Kramer, from the American team, is to be regretted, for he is a rider, famed throughout the world for his brilliant sprinting and generalship. Bob Spears will be the star. .. Since he left Australia, years ago, he has ridden brilliantly, and has scores" of victories over Kramer in match races, and during thelast few months has been trouncing all the best riders in Europe, where he has been hailed as one of the finest sprinters yet seen in competition. Australians will be pleased to see Willie Spencer, who has victories to his credit over Kramer. He is a brother of Arthur Spencer, and a Canadian. During a recent visitto France, Spencer won a big sprint race, defeating, amongst others, the redoubtable Bob Spears. Hans Ohrt is a very fine rider, who should do well in Australia. Corry and Grenda are well-known here, but both have. improved greatly since they left Australia's shores. Osteritter is being brought out in order that patrons of the sport may see how Australia's best amateurs shape a-gainst the best sprinters of the Old World. Ostgritter is brilliant, and his meeting with-the Australian crack, G. Jlalpin and C. J. Walker will arouse a tremendous amount of interest. Osteritter wont the National amateur championship of America this season, which makes him ra.hk as one of the best amateurs in the woi-ld.
