The death has occurred in Canterbury of Mr. Robert Aherne, a journalist particularly well-known in that part of the Dominion. Deceased arrived .from, the Old Country in the 'sixties, and before becoming a. pressman was clerk to the Mandeville and Rangiora Road Board. After he had been on. the literary staff of the Lyttelton Times for several years, he came to Wellington and was with the New Zealand Times for some time.
