THE "POST'S" DISPLAY
APPRECIATION OF SERVICES.
As on past election nights, The Post's display.of the .progress of the elections on the large hoarding erected in front of the office, facing Mercer-street, was much appreciated. Since last election in 1014 the completion of the widening of Willisstreet and the.rounding of the corner of Mercer-street has given greater. room for the crowd, and last night from seven o'clock the numbers grew, until from nine o'clock onwards there must have been between ten and fifteen thousand people in the vicinity. With the help of a large staff, the results were quickly posted as they came in, and powerful electric lights illuminated the whole sur. face of the board with its array of names and numbers. The results were recorded till a late hour of the nnght/when the crowd began to thin away.
. For the quickness and. despatch, with .which the., election figures, were .received and displayed The Post expresses its appreciation of ihs assistance courteously extended by the Returning Officers in the different electorates—Messrs J- W. A. Heenan (North), R.- C O'Connor (Central), J. E. F. Perry (South), P. Cording (East), and W.N. Tregonning (Suburbs) ; and to Mr. A. J. Talbot, Superintendent of Telegraphs, and the telegraph and telephone staffs of the Postal Service.
