1 LONDON, 14th December. • George Rand, the American banker who was killed in an aeroplane accident last week, gave £20,000 to the French* Government for a monument over the trench in which a shell explosion simul; taneously buried ninety soldiers who Were defending Verdun. His pilot succumbed to his injuries.
