BOWLING

CENTRE TOURNAMENT

A meeting of the Wellington Bowling Centre was held last night, Mr. G. Hendry presiding.

Mr. E. J. Hill was appointed delegate to the Dominion Bowling Conference, to be held in Christchurch on 12th January.

It was reported by the treasurer that the balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £ .5 lis 2d.

The secretary reported that 58 rinks had entered for the Wellington Centre tournament. To eliminate byes members present guaranteed two further rinks.

The entries are made up as follow : — Wellington Club 10, Newtown 5, Thorndon .3, Victoria 7, Karori 2, Petone 3, Hutt 5, Johnsonville 2, Eastbourne 1, Lyall Bay 4, Seatoun I, Te Hiwi 1, Hataitai 7, Kelburn 7, Nelson 1, and Ponsonby 1

It was decided that the games be played on the following greens:—Wellington, Victoria, Petone, Hataitai, Newtown, and Thorndon.

Following is .the draw for the tournament, which' is to be played on Ist, 2nd, and 3rd January: —

Section A (on Wellington green on Thursday, Hataitai FnSay, and Newtown Saturday).—Dimock plays Meyrick, Dement plays Buguid, Fountain plays Raven, Kinvig plays Hatch, Martin plays Crawford.

Section B (Hataitai Thursday, Newtown Friday, Thorndon Saturday).— Nicholson plays Dug, Churehwood plays Gray? 'Tyrell plays H. D. Thomson, Hemingway plays Potter, Shepherd plays Powell.

. Section 0 (Newtown Thursday, Thorndon Friday, Victoria Saturday).—Reid plays Roe, j\_rWhannell plays Brackenridge, Portequs plays Captain M'Arthur, Johnson (Hutt) plays Bush, Jackson plays Palmer.

Section B (Thorndon Thursday, Victoria Friday, Petone Saturday).—Smith, plays Sloane, Beynon plays Jones, Keith plays Hill, Noble plays Doherty, Tasker plays Kershaw. Section E (Victoria Thursday, Petone Friday, Wellington Saturday) —Gooder plays "Walker, Feilding plays Snaddon, Hay plays Prince, Dunne plays Taplin, Johnson (Kelburn) plays Davidson.

, It was decided, on the motion of Mr. Hill, that all bowls played in the tournament bear the D.B.A. or N.Z.B.A. stamp, and that green umpires be instructed to examine bowls each day before the commencement of play. i

The following Tournament Committee was appointed:—The president-, the secretary (Mr. S. H. Underwood), and Messrs, W. H..Morrah and F. North.

In the match Island Bay v, Johnsonville for the Junior Pennants the scores were:—lsland Bay . Ivory, Guscott, Parsons, Wilkinson (_), 25. Johnsonville: Sellars, Jones, Nicholson, Beaumont (s), 19.
